(7/6/11) *The new project from DAMIAN MARLEY teaming up with MICK JAGGER, JOSS STONE & DAVE STEWART (EURYTHMICS) is called 'SUPER HEAVY' and dropping soon! Mick said "We've got some reggae songs, some rock, some ballads, some soul music. We'd all leap in with our ideas, getting excited about one another. We're four vocalists, we've never worked like that before. It's great because the whole burden's not on you, and that made it fun. There are a lot of different musical styles, maybe even some we've invented."  Can't wait to hear it!

(5/13/11)  *Alberto D’Ascola aka ALBOROSIE is back with '2 Times Revolution' the new album scheduled for release on June 21st on Shang/VP Records.  It features 16 tracks where Puppa Albo plays most of the instruments and produces, and features guests including JUNIOR REED and ETANA.  “The music is like a ministry, and I don’t even think of myself as doing reggae anymore,” he explains, “I’m doing ‘Jahspel’ music instead, which is a form of gospel music. We’re redesigning the whole concept of it and I’m here to change everything, believe me.”

(4/17/11)  *The second solo album from STEPHEN MARLEY 'The Revelation: Part 1 Root of Life' is scheduled for release on May 24th! And his next album will follow later this year - 'Part 2: The Tree of Life.' Part 1 features appearances from DAMIAN MARLEY, ZIGGY MARLEY, CAPELTON, SPRAGGA BENZ & BUJU BANTON.  Can't wait for what is sure to be the summer's hottest jams!!! 

(4/15/11)  *Jamaican dancehall artist "CHINO" DANIEL McGREGOR will release his debut album 'Chino' on May 24th on VP Records. Chico is the son of reggae icon FREDDIE McGREGOR and brother of producer STEPHEN "DI GENIUS" McGREGOR. The album is a fusion of reggae, dancehall, pop, rock and world, and was recorded at the family's Big Ship Studio.. Chino recently won Best Male Sing-Jay of the Year at Jamaica's Excellent in Music and Entertainment Awards (EME) in 2010. It's the new generation of a reggae dynasty!

(3/12/11) *The earthquake & tsunami in Japan has sent aftershocks through the reggae industry as well as the tremendous loss of lives and property. Japan is a major reggae market with a strong presence of tours, shows and dubplates, and Jamaican artists such as VOICEMAIL & T.O.K. have been performing there for years. Voicemail has released 3 albums exclusively in Japan and has major ties to the people. Voicemail's Kevin Blair was deeply saddened by the disaster and told the Jamaican Gleaner "We have garnered significant love for the place and the people, and we have friends there."  Our prayers go out to all those affected by the tragedy. (2/1/11) *The new BOB MARLEY AND THE WAILERS album 'Live Forever' is out today! Recorded in 1980 at the Stanley Theatre in Pittsburg, PA while Bob was touring in support of the 'Uprising' album, its his last recorded concert.  It's a 2 CD set which includes performances of 'No Woman, No Cry' 'Jammin' 'Is This Love' and many more. Rita said "To hear that music today and be able to share it with a new generation shows that Bob is as relevant today as he was 30 years ago."  So true!  We love you Bob!

(12/12/10) *In 2007 Jamaica's ROMAIN VIRGO made history as the youngest contestant to win JA's Digicel Rising Stars talent contest at age 17 (similar to American Idol). Today his career is in full bloom, tearing up the charts with hits "Mi Caan Sleep" and "Who Feels It Knows It", stealing the show at Reggae Sumfest, opening tours for artists such as CAPLETON, and he's still in music school.. With that type of work ethic and amazing talent, the future is looking bright indeed!

(10/25/10)  *A tragic day as GREGORY ISAACS has died at his London home at age 59 after a battle with liver cancer.  The 'Cool Ruler' was best known for his 1982 hit 'Night Nurse' where his smooth style epitomized the Lovers-Rock style which Gregory created.  Born in the Fletcher's Land area of Kingston on July 15th, 1951, his career began in the late 1960's with sufferer's songs and roots music, and over the next 50 years he recorded with virtually every major reggae producer and label. He ultimately released over 500 albums, his last 'Brand New Me' was released in 2008. His importance in reggae can not be overstated, a true legend he will be sorely missed and his music will live on forever!  RIP Gregory we love you!  Check out more Gregory @ Reggae Nation Classic

*TOSH 1 son of the reggae icon  PETER TOSH is making his own mark in music today!  Born in Kingston, JA and having lived most of his life in Boston, Tosh 1's life was greatly impacted when his legendary father was murdered at the age of seven.  Seeking a way to let out his feelings Tosh 1 turned to music and was heavily influenced by both his uncle BUNNY WAILER and the hip hop sounds which permeate the US.  Tosh states "my mission is to deliver a message of truth without compromise in the language that I am most familar with - the language of the struggle."  With his debut album on the way Tosh-1 is ready to deliver that message.  myspace.com/jahtosh

(7/12/10)   *Sad news from JA, SUGAR MINOTT the 'Godfather of Dancehall' passed away on Sunday, July 11th in Kingston at age 54.  He recorded his first album for COXSONE DODD @ Studio One and went on to have a string of massive hits including 'No Vacancy,' 'Jamming in the Street,' 'Rub a Dub Sound,' and 'Buy off the Bar.'  He also played a role in helping develop the careers of artists such as JUNIOR REID, YAMI BOLO, GARNETT SILK & more with his musical school Youth Promotion.  R.I.P. Sugar you will be missed dearly!

(6/8/10)  *GYPTIAN is on fire!  With his hit single "Hold Yuh" running the dancehall, the remix featuring NICKI MINAJ tearing up the underground & mainstream radio airplay, Gyptian has reached another level.  The song premiered on BET's 106 & Park as the 'New Joint of the Day' and the video has been added to the rotation of MTV2 'Sucker Free Sundays Countdown.'  Nicki, born of Trinidian parents is making quite a splash in the hip hop game and the two killed it together at the Hot 97 Summer Jam in NYC.  His album 'Hold You' is set for release on July 20th Big Up Gyptian & VP miles ahead!

(3/14/10)  *It is a tough market for Dancehall artists today, with BOUNTY KILLER, BEENIE MAN & MAVADO recently banned from travelling to the United States and many others getting their visas pulled.. concerns about homophobic lyrics have cause gay rights groups to protest and shut down a number of events.. It raises the question -  should artists bow to the pressure in order to aquire a Visa and entertain fans, or stick by their beliefs and continue to speak their minds?  Let us know your thoughts in our COMMUNITY.

(3/30/10)  *Caribbean Queen RIHANNA from Barbados is running it with her hit 'Rude Boy' from her forth studio album 'Rated R.'  Its also her 6th number 1 single which makes her the most successful female artist of the last 10 years!  Check out the vid in our Reggae Nation top 10 we love when she rocks it dancehall stylee :)


*KY-MANI MARLEY has a new book out 'Dear Dad' and will be going on a 27-city book tour kicking off April 8th!  The book tells of his "redemptive story in the face of abandonment" and makes some controversial claims about the Marley family.. During the tour Ky-Mani & publisher Dr.Farrah Gray will launch a public awareness campaign to educate about the need for African American bone marrow, blood stem cell, and umbilical cord blood donors to join the NMDP Registry.  Ky-Mani's two young sons suffer from sickle cell disease, which led him to establish the "Love Over All" Charity Foundation.  Much respect Ky-Mani.  Book tour dates @ Kymani-Marley.com

(3/7/10)  *MS.TRINITI is heading to Europe & Japan for extensive touring after hitting #1 on the Jamaican charts with "Burnin Burnin" feat. BEENIE MAN.  Her new album 'Warrior Princess' also features tunes with VYBZ KARTEL & RIIAN KNIGHT.  Originally from the U.K. & Trinidad, her ragga-hop style & unique fashion has been taking the dancehall by storm. *The Jamaica Observer reports that LUTAN FYAH set the crowd on fire with his performance at the Follow Di Arrow show @ James Bond Beach in Oracabessa, St Mary.  The audience roared with approval as he chanted, "Whole heap dem caan believe man say Rastafari now!"  2010 will be a huge year for the artist with his single 'Jail' in heavy rotation. His four number one singles include 'Rasta Still Deh Bout,' 'Save The Juvenile,' 'St Jago De La Vega' and 'Falling For You.'

(12/16/09)  *'JR GONG' DAMIAN MARLEY and rapper NAS will release their joint album 'Distant Relates' on March 16th!  The album explores the origins of the deelply-rooted reggae and hip hop genres, tracing both sounds back to Africa.  The release will also include a DVD with a panel discussion featuring DJ KOOL HERC, DJ RED ALERT and DADDY U-ROY.  Can't wait for the tour!



*Sad news out of Miami, FLA where BUJU BANTON aka Mark Anthony Myrie has been jailed on federal drug charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine.  The charge carries a mamimum sentence of life in prison.  Buju's attorney said the singer "vigorously denies these allegations" and "He has a lot of faith in God, he's confident he's going to be exonerated."  Our prayers are with you!

*The great JIMMY CLIFF has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!  He will be part of the 2010 inductees also including ABBA, THE HOLLIES, GENESIS and THE STOOGES.  The ceremony will take place on March 15th and air live on FUSE TV. 

(12/6/09)  *The nominees for 2009 Best Reggae Album at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards have been announced and the nominees are:  BUJU BANTON 'Rasta Got Soul,' JULIAN MARLEY 'Awake,' STEPHEN MARLEY 'Mind Control,' GREGORY ISAACS 'Brand New Me' and SEAN PAUL 'Imperial Blaze.'  The Grammys will be held on Sunday, Jan 31st at the Staples Center in Los Angeles...

*ALPHA BLONDY will arrive in Israel next week to perform for the inaguration of the new Africa Center at Ben Gurion University.  Among the songs he is expected to perform is 'Yitzhak Rabin' which he wrote for the slain Israeli prime minister.  Tamar Golan who invited him said "Alpha Blondy is known throughout Africa as a hero, a real activist and a fighter against inequality since he began singing against apartheid."  Keep up the good works!

*The first One Love Reggae Concert winter series will take place at Negril Escape Resort in Jamaica from Nov.17th to March 2nd. There will be a total of 16 concerts in the series each headlined by a top reggae artist.  Confirmed artists include: FREDDIE McGREGOR, SANCHEZ, CHAKA DEMUS AND PLIERS, MARCIA GRIFFITHS, LUCIANO, TARRUS RILEY, ETANA, ALBOROISE, JAH CURE. The shows will be opened by talented upcoming acts from Negril.  The promoters intend to use the event to enhance the local tourism product in the area of Negril, formerly known as Westend, which has been renamed One Love Drive.

(12/16/09)  *Congrats to San Clemente's GREG LONG for winning The Eddie!  The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau only runs when Waimea Bay is 25 foot+ and this year on Dec.8th was perfect macking conditions. Greg took home $55,000 and some pretty insane bragging rights.. humble as ever he said afterwards "It really is all about the wave and celebrating the ocean."  Incredible performances were also turned in by RAMON NAVARRO, KELLY SLATER, SUNNY GARCIA, BRUCE IRONS, MICHAEL HO & all 28 surfers who were invited.  EDDIE AIKAU was definately smiling down on his successors, including brother CLYDE AIKAU still in the lineup at age 60!  Eddie would go...

(10/25/09)  *The big news is the reunion of SUBLIME now featuring Rome on lead vocals with Eric & Bud.  Some say it isn't Sublime without Bradley and others are super stoked.. they played the Smokeout this weekend in San Bernadino, CA and the crowd was definately excited to hear the music again but the fight is on over use of the name 'Sublime'..  we'll see what happens!

*So Cal legends COMMON SENSE are heading to Hawaii from Nov.27th to Dec.6th for shows on Oahu, Maui, the Big Island and Kauai.. MAKING HISTORY!

Resin Music was founded in 1998 with the vision of creating a positive change in society through music. RM became the west coast home for Reggae, the music seeking unity among people and harmony with the environment. Our first release ISAAC HAILE SELASSIE 'Unite' in 1999, a call for peace in Ethiopia, was nominated for Best Reggae Album of the Year by the Beat magazine. Next we released albums from U.K. dancehall star TIPPA IRIE and So Cal's BADFISH, and distributed CDs for EEK-A-MOUSE, KY-MANI MARLEY, HALF PINT, SLIGHTLY STOOPID & more through JDC Records. Then we produced our first major festival - Reggae by the Surf on Oahu, HI and with the footage created the first ever reggae/surf movie 'Reggae Nation Island Movement' featuring KY-MANI, SEAN PAUL, BEENIE MAN, SLIGHTLY STOOPID, LONG BEACH DUB ALLSTARS and pro surfers including Sunny Garcia. The film was nominated for numerous awards. Our next DVD - 'Reggae Nation the Real Spring Break' was filmed at SWAT Spring Break in Rosarito, Mexico starring EEK-A-MOUSE, MR.VEGAS, TIPPA IRIE & BADFISH. The movies were carried at major retail locations including Best Buy, Circuit City, Tower Records, Wherehouse and Transworld.

In 2001 we created Reggae Nation TV and have produced RNTV for networks including FOX Sports Net (90 million homes), the ZILO College Network (250 campuses), Reggae Sun/Jamaica and Havoc Video on Demand. Reggae Nation became the "Yo MTV Raps" for reggae, showcasing the stars with an MTV Host and bringing high production multi-media to the scene, formatting content for TV, movies, music videos and the internet. RNTV has produced videos for superstars STEEL PULSE, CAPLETON, DAMIAN MARLEY, BUJU BANTON, SHAGGY, ALPHA BLONDY, BARRINGTON LEVY, MICHAEL ROSE, YELLOWMAN, ANDREW TOSH & more. We are currently working on a 'Reggae Nation Live' documentary and new webisodes.

In 2005 RM hooked up with Body Glove and Surfing America to raise money for the USA Surf Team by releasing a series of compliation CDs called 'Surf Roots.' The comps feature reggae & rock from STEEL PULSE, SLIGHTLY STOOPID, PEPPER, MICHAEL FRANTI, TREVOR HALL & more who generously donated tracks. The CDs have raised thousands of dollars for the Team, become a favorite at surf shop countertops and spawned the Surf Roots Tour which has included dates with COMMON SENSE, SASHAMON, ANUHEA, THE GREEN, BALLYHOO, STRANGER, THE B FOUNDATION & more. The tour has gone international, Surf Roots sampler DVDs are playing at surf shops and Surf Roots Radio is now the #1 internet station for reggae. The brand has come to define the music & lifestyle.

Resin Music has helped foster the current reggae & beach music resurgance. We have thrown over 500 live concert events including tours in Hawaii, Japan and Mexico, helped guide the careers of numerous artists, set up worldwide distribution and licensing agreements, and done talent buying for clubs. Today we are hired by companies to execute targeted marketing campaigns due to our huge database and ability to reach the demographic.
